Big and Little Child Development
Big & Little Child Development Center opened it new facility located at 1401 North Midlothian in the Community Center on January 5, 1998. This state licensed child care center has six classrooms with a licensed capacity of 103. The capacity of each classroom ranges from 16-18 children with one teacher and on assistant teacher in each room. We serve children ages 2 - 6. We have access to a full size gymnasium and a private fenced-in playground. The center operates form 6:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, year round, excluding major holidays. We offer full time and part time schedules to meet the needs of working families. At Big & Little Child Development Center we will provide your child with a warm, nurturing, stimulating, and challenging environment that promotes social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Our goal is to help your child experience the joy of learning, to instill a sense of curiosity, and provide an atmosphere where children can discover and explore. Our curriculum will provide a wide variety of activities and interest areas where cooperative play is encouraged and developmental needs are met. Interest areas will include blocks, sand/water play, house corner, art, library corner, listening center, table toys, science, computers, and cooking. We stress activities that facilitate language development, increase sensory awareness, and enhance an understanding of the environment. We encourage independence, self-confidence, and positive self-esteem. We are concerned with the total care and nurturance of each child. Big & Little participates in the Child Care Food Program, providing nutritious meals and snacks to all enrolled children. The Child Care Food Program is available to all children without regard to race, color, sex, age, disability, or national origin.
