Diamond Lake Sports Complex is 43 acres. This natural gem was known for many years as the Diamond Lake Slough. The site completed master plan improvements in 2009 and was renamed with the help of community input. Dense woodlands, valuable wetlands and several native species call this home, along with expanded recreational activities that rank high with Park District visitors.
Amenities include a combination sports field for lacrosse, soccer, and junior football, nine-hole disc golf course, bocce court, shuffleboard, horseshoe pit, interpretive and educational trails for hiking, biking, and snowmobiling in winter, a scenic overlook, picnic and shelter areas, and ice skating and sledding seasonally. Improvements were funded partially by a $400,000 Illinois Department of Natural Resources Open Space Lands and Acquisition Development (OSLAD) grant.
The Mundelein Park & Recreation District is a proud IAPD/IPRA
