Park District Announces Planning Process for Diamond Lake Recreation Center, Beach & Boat Launch

Mundelein Park & Recreation District today announced the start of a Master Planning process for Diamond Lake Recreation Center, Beach and Boat Launch. When completed, the process will deliver a master plan to enhance the amenities, programs, and resources available at the Diamond Lake properties.

VISION FOR THE FUTURE
The District recognizes the importance of planning for our community’s growing and evolving needs so that Diamond Lake continues to be a vibrant, inviting, and sustainable destination for future generations The District completed a community-wide survey in 2021, and residents ranked Diamond Lake Beach as a top priority for the District to invest funds to improve or maintain over the next five years.

During the process, experts, staff, Board members, and select community members will develop several sustainable concepts that enhance the natural environment, provide increased safety and inclusivity, protect the lake, and maintain Diamond Lake’s unique character. Residents will be invited to provide feedback on concepts.
“We are excited to embark on this journey to plan for the next several decades at Diamond Lake,” said Ron Salski, Executive Director of the Mundelein Park & Recreation District. “Together with our residents, we will create a space that reflects our community’s values while ensuring that Diamond Lake remains a cherished destination for all.”
A team from Gewalt Hamilton Associates and Lamar Johnson Collaborative will guide the master plan process. The team will gather data, assess current site conditions, and develop multiple concept options for consideration.

COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE
Mundelein Park & Recreation District is dedicated to pursuing the highest quality and safety standards in all its parks, facilities, and programs. This project represents their commitment to continuous improvement and pursuit of a vision for a future where Diamond Lake remains a cornerstone of the community.
