Barefoot Bay Family Aquatic Center

Welcome to Barefoot Bay Family Aquatic Center!

Barefoot Bay is a six-acre, family water retreat. The aquatic center offers amenities for swimmers of all ages. Please view Barefoot Bay’s amenities below or follow the links to read more about the park.

2024 Barefoot Bay Daily Hours
General Public: 11 am –7 pm
Season pass holders: 10:30 am–7 pm

2024 Post Season Barefoot Bay
Weekends only: 12 pm –5 pm
The post season begins August 17 through Labor Day

Barefoot Bay Season Pass

This pass includes access to Barefoot Bay, Spray Park, and Diamond Lake Beach. Purchase at the Mundelein Community Center or online.

Individual: $115 resident ea/$160 nonresident ea
4 or More: $85 resident ea/$135 nonresident ea
Senior, ages: 55+: $85 resident ea/$135 nonresident ea


Daily Fees

Youth: $15 resident/$20 nonresident
Adult: $15 resident/$20 nonresident
Senior (Ages 55+): $13 resident/$18 nonresident


Water Walking at Barefoot Bay

Entry Fee: $5 daily or free with Season Pass
Days: Mondays–Thursdays, June 13–July 25
Hours: 7:30 am–8:30 am
No water walking on July 4.

Please note: water walking in the lazy river opens in the morning depending on the high temperature for the day. For example, if the high for the day is expected to be 70 degrees, then water walking will probably open even if it’s only 64 degrees in the morning. However, if the high for the day is expected to be below 70 degrees, water walking will not be available.

Water walkers must be at least 12 years of age. Ages 12–13 require a parent present to water walk.


Where are you located?

  • Barefoot Bay is located at 1461 N. Midlothian Road.
  • The Spray Park is located at 1401 N. Midlothian Road.
  • Beach is located at 1016 Diamond Lake Road.

If I leave, does my daily admission cover the entire day? Can I come back?

  • Yes, we have a hand stamp process. Please see a cashier for assistance.

Does my child need a physical pass if he is under the age of 2 years old?

  • No, but we will add him/her to your family household account.

Height requirements for slides?

  • 42 inches

What kind of life jacket can I bring? Are lifejackets available? Can I use water wings or floaties?

  • Personal Floating Devices (PFDs) must be Coast guard approved.
  • PFDs are available at the facility.

How do I plan a birthday party?

  • Please contact Joe Duffy, Aquatics Manager, at 847.388.5470 or jduffy@mundeleinparks.org for all birthday party inquiries.
  • Birthday parties are 2 hours. All paper products are provided, 2 cheese pizzas, beverages, and a reserved eating area.
  • Fees for 2024 birthday party packages will be announced spring 2024.

When do you open for the season? Close?

  • Hours of operation are subject to change.

Can I bring in my own food? Cooler fee? Will concessions be open?

  • No outside food is permitted
  • No coolers
  • Concessions will be opened

Are Lockers available?

  • Yes, locker rental fees are $2 with a $10 deposit ($12.00 paid total). You will receive the $10 deposit back after returning the key.

Is lap swimming permitted during normal open hours?

  • Lap swimming is permitted only during specified hours. Please contact Joe Duffy, Aquatics Manager, at 847.388.5470 or jduffy@mundeleinparks.org for more information.
